Jack Propane is a solo project of Brooklyn-based producer Ryan Caruso. As Jack Propane, he has released music on Kudzu Productions INTL. Recorded in his home studio during 2016, Other Worlds collects six subaquatic house anthems for late-night joy rides or early morning beach-side sun rises. “Riverside Drive” starts with a cloudy, fever dream beat that eventually cycles into burnt tech-house melodies. “Other Worlds”, like most tracks on the cassette, balances cerebral presentation with beats designed to fill the dancefloor in the wee hours. “C-Beams,” meanwhile, could be a long-lost outtake from the Blade Runner soundtrack.
In Ryan’s words:
All tracks were recorded live, straight to a 1/4” reel-to-reel tape recorder, utilizing a collection of synthesizers, drum machines, sequencers, samplers, effect pedals and filters. The release is an exploration of the rough and psychedelic side of house and techno music, with an emphasis on deep synthesized soundscapes.
Other Worlds is the fourth release on Atlantic Rhythms, a new label releasing deep, contemporary music on limited-run cassettes paired with hand-screened artwork. The Other Worlds cassette is limited to 100 physical copies (includes digital download code), while the full-sized, hand-screened poster is limited to 25 copies (also includes download code). Starting Feb. 10, 2017, a digital version of the album will be available exclusively through Bandcamp
